Bittern Way, Letchworth Garden City

Key Partnership Homes has commenced work on its site at Bittern Way, Letchworth Garden City. The development will comprise 13 new apartments in a single building, all of which will be affordable housing. The construction of this project is being carried out on behalf of affordable housing provider Settle.

The site was formerly comprised of a number of lock-up garages serving the wider area. Planning permission was granted for its redevelopment in October 2017 to provide an affordable housing development in order to address some of the housing shortages experienced in the local area.

The site is currently being prepared with the erection of development safety hoardings and the installation of the site accommodation following the demolition of the lock-up garages. Construction of the building is to commence at the end of March and the project is scheduled to run for 48 weeks. The new affordable homes are to be ready for early 2020 and will be available on an affordable-rented basis.
